Trinity Lutheran Church in Longview will hold a blessing of the animals 12 noon to 2 p.m. on October 8.

Everyone is invited to bring a canine or feline friend for a blessing by Lutheran pastors from Cowlitz County, or people may bring a photo of any animal companion for the blessing.

The event is in honor of St. Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of animals.

Organizers encourage attendees to bring donations of cat and dog food, toys or cash for the Humane Society of Cowlitz County.
