Lower Columbia College has announced that Michael Schmeltzer will be featured at the November 29 Northwest Voices event in Longview. First, the author will conduct a writing workshop from 3:30-5:00 p.m. in Main 145 on the Lower Columbia College campus. From 7:00-8:00 p.m., he will hold a reading at the Longview Public Library. Both events are free and open to the public.

Michael Schmeltzer was born in Japan and eventually moved to the US. He is the co-author of A Single Throat Opens, an epistolary memoir which explores addiction, childhood, and family, as well as two books of poetry: Blood Song, which was a finalist for the Washington State Book Awards, and Elegy/Elk River, winner of the Floating Bridge Press Chapbook Award. He currently lives in Seattle but is most often procrastinating on Twitter at @mschmeltzer01.
