December 14, 2017

Wahkiakum School District Superintendent Bob Garrett announced his resignation at a special Board of Director’s meeting on Tuesday.

“I have and continue to love my work and have so appreciated the opportunity to serve you, our staff, student body and community,” Garrett wrote in his letter of resignation. “Thank you for your commitment to this fine district. I am proud to be working with you and I wish you nothing but the best in the future.”

Garrett has been with the district for over 23 years. His last day will be June 30, 2018.

Melissa Kreuder from ESD 112 was on hand to talk to the board about the superintendent search process.

In other business, Sue O’Connor, Robin Westphall and Shawn Merz took the oath of office. All three won uncontested races for their positions in the recent election. The board then re-organized for the 2018 year. Merz remained the board chair and Paula Culbertson was named Vice Chair. Robin Westphall was selected to be the board’s legislative representative.
