Giants in the Trees will perform with Brian Bovenizer & The New Old Stock, December 30, 7:30 p.m., at The Liberty Theatre, 1203 Commercial Street, Astoria. Tickets are $20 reserved seating.

The members of Giants in the Trees, which formed a year ago after an open call for a local jam, all share a common appreciation of their natural Wahkiakum County surroundings. The band—composed of Krist Novoselic, Jillian Raye, Ray Prestegard, and Erik Friend—also has a great deal of musical chemistry. ‘We were the only four who showed up [for the jam],’ Novoselic said, laughing. 'But we wasted no time. We started making songs. I laid down that riff for 'Sasquatch,' and we were off.'"
