Port 1 discussed the purchase of a new skiff in a special meeting last Thursday. Last Thursday, Wahkiakum Port District 1 commissioners met to discuss the possible purchase of a new skiff.

"We have been looking for an additional skiff to replace ours because it is a riveted skiff," Port Manager Jackie Lea said. "It's leaking water, plus it's not heavy duty enough. We can't push anything with it, it would just get all banged up if we were trying to use it for moving pipe."

"We need to upgrade," Commissioner Scott Anderson said.

After some discussion, the board decided to accept a pre-tax quote of $25,078 for the purchase of a welded aluminum 16 foot construction skiff, with a trailer, a Honda 40 horsepower motor, battery and box, and a 6.6 gallon fuel tank..
