Sheriff's Report, January 18, 2018

 

January 18, 2018



Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the past week, including:

January 8 — 8:53 a.m. A student was found with marijuana in his possession at a school in Cathlamet. 12:47 p.m. A local resident reported that he had found a dent in his vehicle. He did not know where or when it had happened. A deputy informed him that the sheriff’s office could not help as jurisdiction could not be determined. 1:03 p.m. A Skamokawa resident reported that a neighbor’s goats were on his property.

January 9 — 12:03 a.m. A Puget Island resident was reported missing. The caller later reported that the individual had made contact. 10:02 p.m. A driver was given a citation for not having insurance. 10:54 a.m. A Skamokawa resident reported that a neighbor’s goats were on his property. The owner was notified. 3:59 p.m. The Cathlamet Fire Department and a deputy responded to the report of an electrical fire at a Cathlamet address. 4:19 p.m. A deputy and the Grays River ambulance responded to an attempted overdose and assault at a Grays River home.

January 10 — 7:28 a.m. An individual at a home in the Elochoman Valley was taken into custody at the request of a law enforcement agency in Cowlitz County. 11:45 a.m. A caller reported a possible drunk driver in the Elochoman Valley. 1:50 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Cathlamet resident who may have suffered a stroke. 2:18 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided an Elochoman Valley resident with abdominal pain. 4:23 p.m. A caller reported that there was a lot of mud on both lanes of SR 4 near Abernathy Creek. 8:31 p.m. A welfare check was requested for a motorist in the Skamokawa area. The driver, who was lost, without money and an empty tank, was given assistance.

January 11 — 7:59 a.m. The Grays River ambulance aided a Grays River resident with abdominal pain. 8:02 a.m. A break in was reported at a county shop. 9:56 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Cathlamet clinic patient who had taken an overdose. 10:47 a.m. A welfare check was requested for a Rosedale resident. 4:52 p.m. The Grays River ambulance aided a Grays River resident who appeared to have had a stroke. 5:38 p.m. The Cathlamet Fire Department, District 4 Fire Department, the Cathlamet ambulance, and a deputy responded when a barn caught fire on Beaver Creek Road. 7:33 p.m. An inmate was causing problems at the county jail.

January 12 — 8:43 a.m. An armed individual was taken into custody after assaulting his wife at a Rosedale home. 9:13 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Rosedale resident who was having a seizure. 11:39 a.m. A caller reported that a fawn was stuck in a hole on Puget Island and that the tide was coming in. The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife and the Puget Island Fire Department responded. A deputy was asked to come and euthanize the animal at 12:18 p.m. 12:06 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Cathlamet resident with back pain. 1:02 p.m. A driver requested assistance after getting stuck in a Cathlamet parking lot. 1:16 p.m. A caller who believed that a juvenile was being abused requested a welfare check on a family in Grays River. 2:17 p.m. A Deep River resident reported harassment. 3:20 p.m. A caller reported that an individual who had been trespassed from a business in Cathlamet had just entered the establishment. 4:11 p.m. A civil standby was requested at a Rosedale home. 6:22 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a clinic patient in Cathlamet who may have had a stroke.

January 13 — 12:09 p.m. The sheriff’s office was asked to be on the lookout for a juvenile who had run away from his home in Lewis County. 1:28 p.m. Three vehicles were involved in a traffic accident on Main Street in Cathlamet. 4:30 p.m. A caller was concerned after finding a door open at a neighboring Puget Island home because the homeowner was out of town. The owner was contacted and a deputy secured the home. 6:35 p.m. A caller reported a disabled vehicle on SR 4 in the Flandersville area. 6:37 p.m. A caller reported that juveniles were speeding down a Skamokawa road on their four wheelers.

January 14 — 11:53 a.m. A driver was cited for speed on SR 4 in the Elochoman Valley area. 2:17 p.m. A tug boat was vandalized at the marina in Cathlamet. 2:51 p.m. A caller reported an erratic driver heading west on SR 4 near Nassa Point.
