An injury in practice last week left the Wahkiakum Mules without senior Zach Brown for an indeterminate time, and the young basketball program lost two more games against tough teams this week.

On Jan. 17, the Mules lost to Napavine at home 75-35. The Tigers are currently in fourth place in the Central 2B league. The Mules are in eighth place.

Luke Brown led scoring with 10 points. Quentin Nelson had seven, K.C. Beery scored six, and Logan LaBerge five. Brody Carlson had four points and Evan Quigley scored three.

On Friday, the Mules traveled to Adna and lost 79-28. Adna is tied with Toledo for first place in the league.

"It was a rough night," Coach Todd Souvenir said. "They're a very good team, well balanced with several guards that can hit from anywhere once they pass half court. Defensively, they are very quick. They kept us from getting into the paint."

Carlson led the Mules with seven points. Quigley had six points. LaBerge and Nelson added five points apiece. K.C. Beery had three points and Casey Wilson finished the game with two.

Adna 21 26 21 11 --79

The Mules played Winlock at home on Wednesday, but a score was not available by press time. They host Toledo on Friday and travel to Toutle Lake on Saturday. Regular season ends next week with two more home games on Wednesday and Friday.
