Gofundme started for grieving local family

Downriver Dispatches

News from Naselle:

Hearts are heavy in our community as the Rob Dalton family lost a precious wife and mother, Elizabeth Dalton. She passed away on Friday, February 16 while vacationing with her husband in Hawaii. A GoFundMe page has been set up for future expenses of the family, “Together4Daltons.”

The Daltons are and have been an exceptional example of community involvement, family values, mentoring and teaching. Elizabeth and Rob have four children, and Rob currently teaches at the Naselle School.

My most sincere condolences to this family. God be with all of you, as Heaven has gained another angel.

Naselle boys Comet basketball team is off to Spokane for the WIIA State 1B Basketball playoffs. Go Comets!!

School is out the rest of the week for winter break and students will return to their classes on Monday.

It looks like the Chinese New Year Celebration was quite a hit, with student participation entertainment high on the list of fun. I understand that one of the relatively new students, Theo Burkhalter was really enjoying showing his prowess in a martial arts demonstration. Sorry I missed this event. All the students performed very well I’m told. Unfortunately, the flu bug came to our house. Congratulations to all, on a job well done.

Westend news:

Two meeting are scheduled next week to discuss the updated Wahkiakum County Hazard Mitigation Plan. Please join in on Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the Grays River Valley Center at Johnson Park (old Rosburg School) in Rosburg, with questions or further discussion of the plan, The second meeting will also be held on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. in the River Street Meeting Room, located at 35 River Street in Cathlamet.

Spring is almost here, and that means the annual Chicken Dinner sponsored by the Rosburg Community Club. This year it is being held on March 18 in the Rosburg Hall from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. I’m sure this delicious home cooked meal will include their baked chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy, salad bar and awesome home made desserts. More info in my next column.
