Wahkiakum Wohbot Wohundup robotics tournament was hosted by Wahkiakum School District and Wahkiakum 4-H last Thursday at Wahkiakum High School.

There were so many robots, or "bots" as the kids call them, that there was not enough room to show all of them. A few were shared to give an approximate idea of the variety of styles and workmanship that went into constructing these wonderful Wohbots.

The entrants were students from second through 12th grades from Cathlamet and high school students from Toledo.

The competitors from Eli McElroy's middle school class were Chuck Barton, Jonny Berry, CeJay Bond, Trygve Gilbertsen, Jacob Hammond, Michael Mellis, and Kayla Wisner.

Jeff Rooklidge's high school robotics class include the following: James Anderson, Beau Carlson, Brody Carlson, Damion Curl, Tanner Grove, Jason Hodges, Zach Johnston, and Alex Merrill.

Here are the events and results:

Line Racers--1. and 2. were from Mr. Rooklidge's class.

Sumo Bots--1. Iain Haney from Thomas Middle School, 2. tie between two of the teams from Toledo.

WalkUpAndKickEm--1. Mr. Rooklidge's class, 2. Mr. McElroy's class.

Pit Area Demonstration - Peter Vik from Thomas Middle School and Wahkiakum 4-H with his fenced-in robot monster.

Crowd Favorites 1. tie between Mrs. Wilson's and Mrs. Olsen's classes from the elementary school--their "robot zoo" was wonderful, entertaining, and demonstrated student problem solving perfectly.
