Coming Events--Community Center in Cathlamet

April 12, 2018

We have some exciting presentations coming up this month hosted by the Wahkiakum Outdoors and the Community Center. The first one is on Wednesday, April 18 from 2-4 p.m., in the dining room at the church previously known as the Cathlamet Congregational Church. The presentation is “Traditional Foods of Wahkiakum County Landscapes,” by Carrie Backman. Carrie will be talking about local plant uses and preparations and how to identify traditional foods in our surroundings. If weather allows, we’ll take a short walk to investigate Cathlamet’s food plants nearby.

Our second presentation comes to you through Humanities Washington, “The Razor’s Edge: The Washington Razor Clam Phenomenon,” by author David Berger. This will be on Saturday, April 28 at 6:30 p.m., in the River Street Meeting Room.

Tidy Up the Town, sponsored by Pioneer Community Association, will take place on April 28 from 9 a.m.-noon. Join us at the Community Center at 9 a.m. – bring your work gloves, shovels, rakes, hoes and wheelbarrows! This is a fun way to spend with family, teams, classes and friends as we all pitch in together and make Main Street shine!

This Friday’s movie is “an inconvenient sequel TRUTH TO POWER” Rated PG. A decade after An Inconvenient Truth (2006) brought climate change to the heart of popular culture, the follow-up shows just how close we are to a real energy revolution. Stars: Al Gore, George W. Bush, John Kerry.

The movie starts at 7:00 p.m. and popcorn is free. You are also welcome to bring your own snacks.
