N/GRV School Board Meeting Notes

 


The Naselle-Grays River Valley School District Board of Directors met for its monthly meeting on May 15 in the Middle School Commons.

In personnel matters, the board acknowledged the retirement of Mitzi Hunter, effective at the end of the school year. Ms. Hunter spent 24 years in the District, mostly serving students at the Naselle Youth Camp. The board also acknowledged the resignation of Eileen Williams, Spanish teacher, effective at the end of the school year. Mrs. Williams has also served the district for many years. Haleigh See was hired by the board to teach at the K-12 school, beginning next Fall. In final personnel matters, the board approved supplemental teaching contracts for Youth Camp summer school teachers.

The board also approved the use of school facilities and transportation for student summer activities, and a resolution to transfer funds to capital projects for roof repairs. In other matters, a group of students presented a slide show of their Close-Up trip to Washington, D.C. The students raised funds for the trip and spent a week visiting key historical sites, as well as the Capitol. Students were able to meet with Congresswoman Jaime Herrera Beutler.


Superintendent Nelson provided an overview of the current financial status of the district as well as student enrollment counts.

The next board meeting will be June 19 in the Middle School Commons beginning at 6:30 p.m.
