Election races ahead after candidates file

 


Candidate filing for this year's elections ended Friday with several races set for local candidates. Filings include:

Wahkiakum County Assessor (4-year term) William H. Coons, incumbent, and Brian McClain. Both prefer the Independent Party.

Wahkiakum County Auditor (4-year term) Nicci Bergseng, incumbent, and Matt Kuhl. Both prefer the Independent Party.

Wahkiakum County Clerk (4-year term) Kay M. Holland, incumbent, prefers Democrat Party.

Wahkiakum County Commissioner District 3 (4-year term), Blair H. Brady, incumbent, prefers Democrat Party.

Wahkiakum County District Court Judge (4-year term, nonpartisan), Heidi L. Heywood, incumbent, non-partisan.

Wahkiakum County Prosecuting Attorney (4-year term), Daniel H. Bigelow, incumbent, prefers Democrat, and Stewart D. Feil, prefers the Independent Party.

Wahkiakum County Sheriff (4-year term),

Mark C. Howie, incumbent, prefers Independent; and Graham Phalen, prefers Republican party.


Wahkiakum County Treasurer (4-year term),

Tammy Peterson, incumbent, prefers Democrat.

Wahkiakum Public Utility District, Commissioner #2 (6-year term, nonpartisan), Robert Jungers, incumbent, non-partisan position.

US Senator, (6-year term)--Thirty candidates have filed, including Maria Cantwell (D), incumbent.

Seven candidates have filed for U.S. Representative 3rd District (Clark, Cowlitz, Klickitat, Lewis, Pacific, Skamania, Thurston, Wahkiakum counties), (2-year term). Preferring Republican Party are Michael Cortney, Earl Bowerman and Jaime Herrera Beutler incumbent. Preferring Democrat Party are Martin Hash,


David McDevitt, Carolyn Long and Dorothy Gasque.

19th Legislative District (Cowlitz, Grays Harbor, Lewis, Pacific, Wahkiakum counties): State Rep., Position 1 (2-year term)--Jim Walsh (R) incumbent, prefers Republican, and Erin Fraser, prefers Democrat.

Three candidates have filed for State Rep., Position 2 (2-year term), including Brian E. Blake (D) incumbent, and two preferring Republican, Joel McEntire and David Parsons.
