The Wahkiakum County Board of Equalization (BoE) is seeking to fill the position of Clerk. The BoE is mandated by the State of Washington with the purpose to intervene during a taxpayer/assessor dispute over property assessments in the County. Duties will include but are not limited to convene the Board, receive taxpayer petitions, communicate with the taxpayer, copy petition for the Board and assessor, schedule and conduct hearings. The Clerk will write the transcript of the recorded hearing and the Board orders then copy those to the taxpayer and assessor. This is a part-time, compensated position with training offered through the State. Applicant must have a working computer and printer and command of the English language. Two Board member positions are also available. Duties include reviewing documentation provided by taxpayer to support their claim of over or under assessment and from the assessor to support their assessed value. The member will participate in hearings before the assessor and taxpayer and decide if an adjustment to the assessment is warranted.
