The Wahkiakum Mule volleyball team completed its regular season last Thursday and are battling in the district tournament this week. The Mules lost 3-1 to Central League champion Toutle Lake last Thursday to close the regular season. They started district tournament competition Monday, beating Willapa Valley 3-0 and losing to Toutle Lake 3-0. Some Wahkiakum County elections were settled Tuesday as county election officers counted votes, and some were still up in the air. Challenger Bill Coons, who ran as an Independent, defeated incumbent Sulema Zerr, a Republican, in the race for county assessor by a vote of 1,043-638. Jon Dearmore defeated challenger Tory Norris 1,398-259 in the election for county sheriff. Both ran as Independents.
