Longtime Puget Island resident, Sandra K. “Sandi” Nelson, 59, passed away December 8, 2010 at St. John Medical Center. She was born September 1, 1951 in Longview, WA to Frank and Ada (Jones) Sterner. She graduated from Castle Rock High School in 1969. On December 5, 1975 she married John Nelson; he survives her at home. Sandi was a 4-H leader for many years and was manager for the Wahkiakum County Fair. She enjoyed sewing, gardening and spending time with her family; especially her grandchildren. Robert (Bob) Lee Wiester, 88, AKA “Wildhorse,” was born Oct. 30, 1922. He died December 9, 2010. Adopted and then raised on the family dairy farm near Skamokawa, Washington by Elma Josephine (Wilson) and Howard Leroy Wiester. He entered the United States Marine Corp in 1943, completed boot training at Camp Pendleton, CA. After completing advanced training in communication he was assigned to the 5th Joint Assault Signal Battalion with the Fifth Marine Division. Cathlamet resident, Jack A. Sullivan, 86, passed away December 13, 2010 at Columbia View Care Center. He was born May 15, 1924 in Marcus, to Dennis and Sue (Newland) Sullivan. He married Lois King on May 29, 1960 in Portland, Ore. and together they moved to Cathlamet in 1986; she survives him at home. Jack served in the U.S. Army during WWII.
