A construction crew began laying a membrane Tuesday evening on the new wooden decking of the Puget Island bridge in preparation for paving. Overnight closures, 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., were scheduled Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday nights for the work. Wahkiakum County Engineer Paul Lacy said Tuesday that the contractor has said that if the paving proceeds quickly, the start of the Thursday closure may be delayed to accommodate people coming home from the opening night of the Wahkiakum County Fair.
