The Burkhalter family haying on Monday, July 11 in their field that was once Sorenson's and later, Fitts' and now is part of the Burkhalter fields that support their large herd of milk cows. At one time Grays River had 28 dairy farms. Now the Burkhalters' farm is the last milk farm in the valley. All in the photo are Burkhalters; from the left, Susan, Bowen, Gary and Austin.
