To The Eagle: Just getting back from the recycling bins by the high school with feelings of sadness and disgust. Because of all the garbage in the plastics bins, I will take my two bags to Longview and put only the plastics in the bins, saving the bags for later use or put them in my garbage at home. George F. Hanigan was born February 11, 1938 at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Portland, Oregon to George Henry (Hank) Hanigan and Elizabeth D. (Betty Driscoll) Hanigan. He died July 11, 2013. George was a fourth generation Wahkiakum resident and a third generation local attorney. His great grandparents homesteaded in 1870 in the Elochoman Valley. His grandfather George F. Marjorie Fay Burns passed away at her home on Puget Island on Sunday, July 7. She was born on April 11, 1928 in Polson, Montana, to George and Elizabeth Fryberger. Marge married Robert Burns in 1950. They moved to Portland in 1957 and raised their family there. They retired on Puget Island in the early eighties. Marge loved spending time with her family and she and Bob enjoyed many lovely trips together. She was passionate about tennis and music.
