Wahkiakum Mules Blaine Land and Brett Chaput and Naselle Comet Rob Baker returned with medals from the Class2B State Track and Field Meet last Friday and Saturday at Eastern Washington University, Cheney. Land placed second in the discus at 118-3. She also placed fifth in the shot put at 33-4.25. Chaput placed second in the discus at 154-02. Wahkiakum High School senior Keisha Harris, freshman Paris Cothren and sophomore Brittaney Martin told the Cathlamet Blanche Bradley Public Library Board of Trustees that they liked having a teen library separated from the children’s and adult areas of the library. This Saturday the Fairgrounds will be the site of the Derby Dollars for Scholars and Rods & Reels Rod Run event! This is a special fund raising event established to generate funds for student scholarships. The Rods & Reels Car Show will be set up in the Fairgrounds Park and the Dollars for Scholars Sturgeon Derby & Barbecue is located on the Fairgrounds midway area. Naselle Lutheran plans Memorial Day garage sale Naselle Lutheran Church is the site for a large multi-family garage sale during the Memorial Day weekend. Early Saturday morning a group of seven volunteers arrived at the Fairgrounds to complete a painting project. They spent the day painting the inside of the horse barn stalls red and leveling the ground inside of the stalls. At noon the volunteers took a break and were served a gourmet lunch by Lois Wakefield. Lois brought enough food to feed all the volunteers working on the horse barn and everyone else volunteering on the various projects on the Fairgrounds that day. I have heard that rainy weather doesn’t stop people from traveling to rummage sales; I know that this is a true fact now. Even though it was raining so hard it was knocking blossoms off flowers, at 10 a.m. cars started pulling up! They came to shop, visit and look over the projects going on at the Fairgrounds.
