Starting pitcher Zach Brown struck out five, allowed one hit and one run and was given the win. Razor clam diggers will have a few more beaches to consider in late March and April, following a decision March 8 by state shellfish managers to add digs to a list of dates previously announced. The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) is planning new digs at Long Beach in March and at Copalis and Mocrocks in April, based on recently updated harvest estimates showing a sufficient number of clams in those areas to support additional openings. The five man Mule wrestling team braved the weather on Saturday to compete at the District 4 Sub-Regional tournament at Ocosta. The Wahkiakum Mule boys basketball team capped their snow-shortened regular season Monday night with a convincing 54-39 win over the Toutle Lake Ducks on Senior Night in Cathlamet. Mule Wrestlers participated in the Beach Brawl tournament in Ilwaco on Saturday. This was the last regular season tournament for the team. WIAA has set a 33 match limit during the regular season and some of the wrestlers were almost there. This puts wrestlers in the position of having to default once they hit that cap; the team had two boys who were forced to do so. Clam diggers can return to coastal beaches Tuesday through Sunday of this week to dig razor clams. The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) approved the latest dig after marine toxin tests showed the clams are safe to eat. As in previous openings, all digs are scheduled on evening tides. No digging will be allowed on any beach before noon.
