    Quilts for all Seasons, a quilt show presented by the Ladies of the Lake Quilt Guild, will be held October 4 and 5 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Youth and Family Link Building, 907 Douglas Avenue, Longview. The featured quilter will be Jane Reed, who made her first quilt at age 14 on her grandmother’s treadle sewing machine. Her favorite method of quilting is paper piecing with freezer paper.   • Link Crew eases transitions into high school

    In order to ease transition for incoming freshmen and transfers, several upperclassmen at Wahkiakum High School stepped into newly appointed leadership roles through a program called Link Crew. The leaders were selected from students who completed applications requiring an essay about why they wanted to mentor.     A dedicated and helping hand, and more, to the community is Bob Adams, Puget Island. Bob had the idea and commitment that he would use his time and gardening skills to help the less fortunate in Wahkiakum County. Bob started early this spring in growing a large number of vegetable plants from seeds. In fact, when it came time to transfer these seedlings, there were too many. So Bob did another gracious gesture; he gave many plant starts away. Since about the first of July, his efforts in producing a large vegetable crop have come to fruition....

    Cathlamet's remodeled library building will have a color scheme known as Forest Green, Mayor George Wehrfritz announced Tuesday. Town officials developed three color schemes, Old Growth, Water Run and Sunrise, and conducted balloting at public events and large groups. "We had 377 valid ballots, and Old Growth came in with 179 and was the winner," Wehrfritz said. Water Run drew 110 votes, and Sunrise had 88.
