Free household hazardous waste turn-in set

Wahkiakum County residents will be able to dispose of household hazardous wastes June 2, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Wahkiakum PUD’s parking lot.

The hazardous waste collection is an annual event conducted by Cowlitz County Public Works in conjunction with Wahkiakum County.

It is limited to products from the home.

People may dispose of pesticides, paint, thinners, solvents, motor oil, antifreeze, pool chemicals, hobby chemicals, cleaning products, and toxic, corrosive or flammable materials.

Each participant is limited to 25 gallons or 200 pounds of material.

Participants should keep material in original containers, and not transport it in the passenger compartment of a vehicle.
