Wahkiakum County to host kayak symposium

A new kayak skills symposium on the lower Columbia River August 24-26 makes learning fun with a blend of classes, games and tours.

For beginners, protected sloughs and islands offer a confidence-building introduction. Wind, waves, and current of the open river challenge experienced paddlers whose weekend culminates in a trip to the legendary mouth of the Columbia. A dozen top kayak coaches from across the country and around the globe bring a variety of teaching styles as well as a wealth of experience and passion for the sport.

The Lower Columbia Kayak Roundup is held on the Columbia River in Wahkiakum "We Kayak 'em" County, Washington, located between Astoria, Oregon and Longview, Washington. The event is co-hosted by Columbia River Kayaking and Skamokawa Center with free camping at Columbia River Kayaking's Slow Boat Farm and lodging available at Skamokawa Center.
