August 2 , 2007

This is very big news for our annual Spelling Bee contestants. The Grays River Grange has increased the prize money once again. This year we again have two age groups, one for students from the 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades; and another for students from the 6th, 7th, and 8th grades.

Each contestant will register prior to the event and receive a name tag which, following their participation in the spelling bee can be used at the Ice Cream Booth for a $2 value of ice cream.

We will award a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place in each age group of $75, $50 and $25.

The spelling bee is scheduled for 2 p.m. on August 17 at the Mini Stage. I hope all our Words for Thirds students have been using their dictionaries and will be ready to participate in this fun event.

The Grange Food Booth will be open for breakfast at the Wahkiakum County Fair on Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 7 a.m. until 11 a.m. We always have wonderful breakfast items available and this year we will again feature our special biscuits and gravy in addition to eggs, bacon, sausage, hash browns and pancakes. Please treat yourself to at least one very special morning by including breakfast at the Fair!

Hours for the Grange Food Booth will be 7 a.m. through 10 p.m. Whenever you're at the fair you will be able to find a great meal at the Grange Food Booth. See you at the fair!
