Ronald E. Nelson, 72, died at his Naselle residence September 4, 2010. Born in Longview he grew up in Woodland where he lettered in three sports at Woodland High School and played football at Lower Columbia College in Longview.

Ron worked in banking in Woodland and Longview before becoming a self-employed general contractor. In 1985 he returned to banking with the Bank of The Pacific where he was branch manager and vice president until retiring in 2010.

Ron was an avid fisherman and golfer who lived in Naselle during the summer months and Arizona during the winter. He and Pat O’Connor were married in 1990 and she survives. He and Connie Kuhn were parents of a son Rod of Ridgefield and daughter Tina Collins of Aloha, Ore. Also surviving are sons by marriage Jeff Friddle of Yuma, Ariz., and Sean Friddle of Astoria; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Memorial service will be September 11, 2010, 2 p.m. at Naselle Lutheran Church, Naselle with a reception following. Ron’s guestbook and complete obituary are available at http://www.penttilaschapel.com.
