Idea offered for use of farm

To The Eagle:

After reading yesterday's Eagle and all the letters in there, I thought it was time for me to express my opinion also.

I'm going to start by saying that all of us without exception on a daily basis break a rule or the law. A point I would like for our commissioners and Sheriff's department to consider in relationship to the property they are inheriting on Puget Island: There was a very good program on the agriculture station #345 RFD on Direct TV to do with what trade do the people who serve time in jail learn? The title of this program was The Sheriff's Farm and what took place on this farm was the people serving time learned how to grow food in a garden in the summer and maintain and plan for next year's crop in the winter, thereby learning a trade other than having so much spare time they can't stay out of trouble.

The small acreage of this Puget Island farm seems to be the right size for this type of use. The people serving time slept every night in jail, but learned a trade in the daylight hours and there are many different aspects of growing a garden. They wouldn't need to be on the job from planting the seed to harvesting.

I'm sure there are people who will partially agree with my opinion and there are some who will not but that's how life is.
