State versus Shawn Neal Gilbert, 28: The defendant pled guilty to a charge of third degree assault and violation of a court order. He was sentenced to one month in jail , to undergo a substance abuse evaluation, and to pay a $500 Crime Victim Compensation (CVC) assessment, $230 court costs, $100 felony DNA collection fee and jail subsistance fee.

State versus Tina Marie Hartman, 43: The defendant pled guilty to a charge of use of drug paraphernalia. She was ordered to serve 90 days in jail, with 89 suspended on conditions, and to pay a $250 fine, $500 CVC assessment, $230 court costs, a jail subsistence fee and the cost of her public defender.

State versus Michael Ray Carroll, 57: The defendant entered a not-guilty plea to charges of second degree burglary, tampering with a witness, and third degree theft. The state alleges that he broke into a barn and took a bale of alfalfa and, after being investigated, asked a witness to withhold evidence from police.


State versus Leah Nicole Waite 30: The defendant was charged with unlawful possession of a payment instrument (two checks), domestic violence, and fourth degree assault, domestic violence. Arraignment was set for February 1.

Three juveniles were each charged with two counts of malicious mischief. The state alleges they spray painted walls at Erickson Park and the Wahkiakum High School stadium. Non-jury trials were scheduled for March 12.

January 9

State versus William Eugene Johnson: The defendant pled guilty to a charge of defrauding a public utility district. He was the tenant of an East Birnie Slough Road property where law enforcement officers found a circuit had been placed around an electric meter for a marijuana grow operation. He was ordered to serve 20 days in jail and to pay a $500 CVA, $230 court costs, $100 felony DNA fee, $4,000 restitution to Wahkiakum PUD, a jail subsistence fee, and the cost of his court appointed attorney.

State versus Robert Conner, Jr., 48: The defendant pled guilty to a charge of third degree assault, domestic violence. He was ordered to serve 90 days in jail and to pay a $500 CVA, $230 court costs, $100 felony DNA fee, a $100 court security fee, a jail subsistence fee, and the cost of his court appointed attorney.

State versus David Wayne Stillwell, 23: The defendant pled guilty to a charge of third degree assault. He was ordered to serve 35 days in jail and to pay a $500 CVA, $100 felony DNA fee, $100 court security fee, a jail subsistence fee, and the cost of his court appointed attorney.

State versus Charles Kennedy Neilson, 43: The defendant was charged with possession of a controlled substance, hydrocodone, driving while under the influence of intoxicating liquor or drugs, driving while his license was suspended and operating a motor vehicle without an ignition interlock. He entered a not-guilty plea, and a jury trial was scheduled for March 19. The state alleges that Neilson was driving a car clocked at 84 miles per hour in a 55 mph zone. A deputy sheriff said he received permission to search the car and found hydrocodone pills and drug paraphernalia in the car.

December 19

The court entered a dissolution in the marriage of Robert and Janelle Kerstetter.
