County OKs Seal Slough tidegates

Wahkiakum County commissioners on Tuesday approved a Shoreline Management Substantial Development Permit to help drain land along Seal Slough near Rosburg.

The permit would allow replacement of an old culvert with a tidegate and installation of two new tidegates with culverts on the Amala family property on Kandoll Road.

Applicant is the Grays River Habitat Enhancement District.

The two new tidegates are to be above the normal floodplain level and wouldn't alter normal drainage; they would come into action during floods and help drain an area that collects water during freshets.
