The Wahkiakum Mule golf team recaptured the District Title Trophy last Thursday, beating runner-up Willapa Valley by 52 strokes with a four man 36 hole total of 679 to 731.
The Mules qualified six players of the eight slot total allocated to District 4 to state. Brysen Coleman was edged out for medalist by Willapa Valley's Connor McCallister 166-167. Brook Calvert finished third 168 and Zach Calvert came from 11th the first day and outside the cut line to tie teammate Austin Good for fouth with a 172.
Also qualifying for state and finishing sixth and seventh were Elliot Haney 173 and Bradley Peek 176.
The 2013 Mules set another milestone by qualifying six players for state for the first time in school history.
The Mules play in the state tournament May 21 and 22.
