Hansen to receive PLS scholarship

Wahkiakum High School senior Dylan Hansen is one of 12 students from this region named to receive $1,000 Pacific Lumber & Shipping Scholarships.

A Pacific Lumber & Shipping announcement said the college-bound high school seniors demonstrated both academic excellence and commitment to their communities in Southwest Washington and Northwest Oregon.

The students are:

Dylan Hansen, Wahkiakum High School,

Chase Berg, Clatskanie High School,

Carl Beyer, Molalla High School,

Brian Guisinger, Rainier High School,

Joel Martin, Toledo High School,

Neil McGhee, Kelso High School,

Michael Morgan, RA Long High School,

Renee Pond, Mark Morris High School,

Laura Rice, Vernonia High School,

Lynsey Sturgill, Castle Rock High School,

Haili Wirkkula, Knappa High School, and

Allison Wolf, Winlock High School.

The PLS scholarship program aims to give back to, and invest in, the rural communities that supportworking forests. As a subsidiary of family-owned Port Blakely Companies, PLS started the scholarship program as part of Port Blakely Companies’ 150th anniversary celebration this year.
