Final lure coursing event to be held for season

The final lure coursing field tests and trials for the 2014 season will be held this weekend at Misty Rivers Plantation, 117 Cross Dike Road, on Puget Island. This event is for AKC registered sighthounds only, and is sponsored by the Willamette Valley Basenji Club.

Hounds compete in groups of three with their own breed, chasing an artificial bunny around a 1500 yard course. At the end of each day the best in each breed compete for the Best in Field Award. Registration is at 8 a.m., with racing commencing around 9 a.m., on both Saturday and Sunday.

The public is invited to attend, admission is free, and well-leashed dogs are also welcome. Contestants will park on the coursing field in back; spectators park on the grass by the front driveway. Restrooms are available, and a limited amount of handicapped parking is available in back.
