With colorful supporters behind her, Baylee Olsen prepares to serve in the Wahkiakum Mules' Tuesday match with Toutle Lake. Fans and players from both teams wore pink in honor of the late Brandi Knowles Thomas, who recently died of cancer.

The Wahkiakum Mule volleyball team lost two league matches this week.

The Toutle Lake Ducks brought their game and pink uniforms to Tuesday's Pink Out match in honor of Brandi Knowles Thomas and Breast Cancer Awareness. They beat the Mules in four sets, 25-14, 22-25, 25-18 and 25-18.

"It was a tough loss tonight," Coach Kayli Hurley said. "Too many unforced errors on our side of the court. We need to find a way to be more efficient."

Mule Peyton Souvenir, 2, sets the ball for middle blocker Kaylee Bryant, 15.

Hurley praised Tori Wegdahl for strong serve receive and 11 digs and Makenzie Anderson for her four kills and efficiency at the net. She also praised Kaylee Bryant and Baylee Olsen for being "highly efficient on offense." They had eight kills and 14 kills respectively.

The Mules traveled to Napavine last Thursday and lost in four sets to the Tigers, 25-15, 23-25, 11-25 and 22-25.

"We backed way off in the second set and never regained our momentum," Hurley said.

Wegdahl led the team with 12 kills. The most efficient hitters of the night, according to Hurley, were Olsen with 10 kills and Bryant with four kills and four blocks. Grace Peacock had a passing average of 2.0 out of 3.0 for serve receive.

The team is now 5-2 overall and 0-2 in league.

They face Toledo at home tonight (Thursday) and will travel to Adna on Tuesday.
