Program will introduce JustServe.org project

April 23, 2015

The community is invited to participate in a meeting to introduce JustServe.org to be held at the Community Center Meeting Room at 101 Main Street next Thursday at 4 p.m.

Dan Lindstrom, the JustServe Project Coordinator in Longview, will present the program and how it can coordinate with organizations, further develop a core of volunteers and bring attention to projects for the interest of the communities in Wahkiakum County.

Just Serve.org is a website that matches sponsors that need volunteers with people who want to be volunteers. It matches churches, civic organizations, non-profits, and governmental agencies with those willing to help. There is no charge for this service.

JustServe projects should be as collaborative as possible – community members working side-by-side, provide humanitarian service that assists the poor and those in need of a helping hand, and provide service opportunities that enhance the quality of life in the county.

JustServe projects should not directly involve volunteers in fundraising, have a political focus, or be "for-profit" oriented. There is no charge for organizations to post on JustServe. Any personal information provided will only be used to coordinate JustServe efforts. JustServe can provide a link to an organization's existing website. All organizations are encouraged to have a representative attend. The more connections made and communicated, the more service to the communities in Wahkiakum County.

The JustServe website is sponsored by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The local contact is Sue Garn at 360-747-1772.
