Westend news:

It looks like lots of activities throughout the county this Halloween weekend, but here on the Westend we are continuing our sixth year of All Hallows Eve in the spooky old Rosburg School. The fun begins at 4:30 p.m. with inside trick or treating at each door in the building. As your kiddos make their way through the building, the cafeteria will be open for a light dinner of free hot dogs (donated by the ladies of the Valley Bible Church), punch, as well as goodies like cookies, cupcakes, etc. (provided by the Grays River Methodist Church).

Meanwhile in the cafeteria we will be showing cartoons on the big screen and at 6 p.m. a scary (but not too scary) movie. Should be a nice evening of fun for the whole family.

Candy for the event has been donated by Okies Market, Bonnie Kohn, Del and Trudy Fredrickson, Betsy Simms, Randy and Mona Collver, Alan and Penny Gregory and Aunt Sue. Thank you to all the donors, and to all the volunteers who make this event possible.

The Annual Holiday Bazaar sponsored by the Rosburg Community Club, will be held earlier on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Rosburg Hall.

This traditional bazaar and luncheon is one of the best and most fun events of the year, and benefits our very own Rosburg Hall. Vendors will provide you with plenty of items to purchase for the holidays, including crafts, baked goods, art, and much more. Shopping local is the way to go.

Next Wednesday, November 4, the annual Living Well in Wahkiakum event will take place in the Grays River Valley Center at Johnson Park. To learn more about all the programs available to our community members here in Wahkiakum County, please join us. Everything from shoes for diabetics, to signing up for Medicare will have someone on site to answer your questions. For more information, call the Health and Human Services department.

The Wednesday Senior Lunch Bunch meets each week in the Rosburg Hall for a home cooked meal prepared and served by Pat Potter and her volunteer crew.

On Thursdays, CAP also sponsors a senior lunch at the above location. The meals are served at noon.

Happy Birthday to Sharon Johnson-Ross, Kevin Maki, Kyle Olmsted, Lindsay Littau, Jeff Eaton, KJ Keightly-Baker, Kevin McNulty, Joel Forbes, Lorna Batt, Norm Penttila, Angela Helvey and Gwen Snyder.

Happy Anniversary to David and Angela Helvey and to Paul and Donna Linstrom.
