December 10, 2015



Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the past week, including:

November 30 — 8:43 a.m. A Skamokawa resident was reported missing. The individual was later located. 10:49 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Puget Island resident who had fallen. 8:29 p.m. The Cathlamet Fire Department responded to the report of a power outage in Grays River. After being notified, the PUD said that Bonneville Power Administration was en route to fix the problem.

December 1 — 10:30 a.m. A Cathlamet resident complained about a vehicle had been parked in front of her home since July. 12:43 p.m. A motorist reported that a large sheet of plastic had fallen off a truck and was now in the middle of the Puget Island bridge. 5:56 p.m. A caller reported an erratic driver heading west on SR 4. 11:24 p.m. The Grays River ambulance transported a Deep River resident to the hospital.


December 2 — 11:43 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Puget Island resident who had fallen from a porch. 12:48 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Rosedale resident with high blood pressure and a rapid heart rate. 2:29 p.m. A caller reported that an eastbound tractor trailer was being driven erratically on SR 4. 2:53 p.m. A bicycle was found. 3:48 p.m. A Cathlamet resident reported fraudulent activity and identity theft. 4:54 p.m. The Grays River Fire Department and the Grays River ambulance responded to a chimney fire in Rosburg. 7:16 p.m. A large branch was blocking part of SR 4 near Nassa point. 10:42 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Cathlamet resident.


December 3 — 11:33 a.m. A caller complained about speeding vehicles on a Puget Island road. 11:54 a.m. A woman was behaving strangely in a Rosburg business; she was talking to herself, yelling, and stacking products. She left before an officer arrived. 12:11 p.m. A caller reported that an individual had violated an order of protection with a phone call. The individual was advised that his bail would be revoked if it happened again. 5:52 p.m. A caller reported that a transient had gone into a public bathroom in Cathlamet, but may not have exited before the building was locked. 10:14 p.m. A caller reported that a person was having suicidal thoughts. A representative from the mental health department responded and a deputy removed weapons from the home. 11:26 p.m. A Skamokawa resident heard a gunshot at a nearby home. The caller was concerned because the neighbor was out of town. The homeowner called later, concerned that someone might have broken into her home.

December 4 — 1:09 a.m. A call came in from a Cowlitz County mental health department reporting that a local resident was threatening to kill himself. They asked to have the individual transported to the hospital. Dispatch called a representative from the local mental health department and was told that someone was on scene with the individual. The mental health professional who was believed to be on scene called and said she had left earlier and that there was no one with the man. Dispatch called the hospital, and they said they believed the man was alone. Dispatched called the representative from the local mental health department again and were told “absolutely not” when they asked whether an ambulance should be called, that the responding MHP should return to the scene. At 2:43 a.m., a request came in from an MHP for an ambulance, according to the sheriff’s report, and the man was transported to the hospital. 1:24 a.m. A Rosburg resident reported an intoxicated driver with kids in the car. The driver had driven through his yard and hit a truck before heading towards SR 4. 10:51 a.m. A caller reported that vehicles were being parked illegally on a Rosburg road. A tow truck was dispatched. 12:10 p.m. The District 4 Fire Department was dispatched to Little Cape Horn where a power line was hanging low over SR 4. The PUD was notified. 6:52 p.m. A motorist hit a deer on SR 4 in the Rosedale area.


December 5 — 2:07 a.m. A deputy responded to a fight between two male subjects in downtown Cathlamet. They were separated and refused to press charges. 8:07 a.m. A Puget Island resident reported a missing dog. The dog was found later that day. 2:03 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Cathlamet resident who had had a seizure. 4:24 p.m. A Rosedale resident reported receiving threats. 7:04 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided an Elochoman Valley resident. 8:41 p.m. An alarm company reported that a burglary alarm had been activated at a Skamokawa address. Dispatch tried but was unable to contact a responsible party. 9:25 p.m. An alarm was activated at a Rosedale address.

December 6 — 7:32 a.m. A Puget Island resident reported a loose dog roaming the area. 10:04 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Cathlamet resident who had fallen. 12:16 p.m. A caller reported a capsized boat near Flandersville. A deputy checked the area and found nothing. The Coast Guard was notified of the report. 2:05 p.m. A caller requested regular patrols of Vista Park after finding evidence that someone had attempted to start a fire in one of their bathrooms. 2:21 p.m. A deputy responded to a local resident who had reported a possible case of fraud. After investigating the situation, the deputy said it was a civil matter and suggested that the individual contact a consumer attorney and check his credit history. 5 p.m. The Cathlamet Fire Department responded to several reports of a power outage in Rosburg. The PUD was notified and the power was restored. 7:40 p.m. A caller reported that a suspicious vehicle on a Puget Island road. 8:28 p.m. The Cathlamet Fire Department and the Cathlamet ambulance responded to the report of a chimney fire at a Cathlamet home. It was a false alarm.
