Ferry repair underway

Repair of the ferry Oscar B. is underway, Wahkiakum County Public Works Director Chuck Beyer said Tuesday.

Beyer said shipyard managers told him the work should be completed in 7-10 days, or January 27 at the latest.

The ferry went to a shipyard last week to install keel coolers for its generators. The previous sea well intake system had been plugging with debris during freshets.

Beyer said US Coast Guard personnel had inspected the vessel in the shipyard and would inspect again once the repairs were finished.
