Lady Mules lose two, rebound against Pe Ell

Mule Savannah Burdick drives to the hoop; she scored 14 points for the Mules against Toutle Lake last Wednesday.

The Lady Mules suffered a setback last week with two losses in a row, but were able to turn things around on Tuesday in Pe Ell with a win.

Last Wednesday at home, the Lady Mules faced the number two team in their league, the Toutle Lake Ducks, and lost 43-61.

Peyton Souvenir led the team with 16 points and nine rebounds. Savannah Burdick added 14 points. Macie Elliott scored six points and pulled down 10 rebounds. Grace Peacock, Sydney Hansen and Ellie Leitz had two points apiece and Maddy Mace scored one point.

Sam Woodley scored 34 points for the Ducks.

On Thursday, the team traveled to Adna and lost again 63-79.

Souvenir scored 23 points. She also had 10 rebounds, eight assists, eight steals and one block. Burdick added 12 points and Leitz had 10. M. Elliott scored seven points and had seven rebounds. Peacock scored six and pulled down 12 rebounds. Hansen had four points and Rory Heywood added one more.

The team traveled to Pe Ell on Tuesday and beat them easily, 69-29.

Wahkiakum freshman Macie Elliott is fouled on a drive in the Mules' loss to Toutle Lake.

Peacock led the team with 16 points, followed closely by Souvenir who had 15. M. Elliott added 14 more. Mace scored nine points, Burdick had six, and McKensi Fluckiger had four. Charlie Ashe and Tyra Elliott scored two points apiece and Leitz had one.

Peacock also pulled down eight rebounds. Souvenir had seven rebounds, 14 assists and eight steals.

"I thought we played an all around really good game tonight," Coach Robbie Garrett said. "It was fun to watch the girls play so well together and have a blast. Peyton and Grace were definitely our leaders out there tonight, but every girl contributed something positive. I was really happy with how they played."
