Wrestlers in the Wahkiakum Mule wrestling program had a hard time in regional competition last Saturday.

Rayanna Carlon placed fourth in her weight class and will be an alternate to the state Mat Classic Tournament this weekend at the Tacoma Dome. Carlon lost her first match, had a bye in the second round, and won her third match by two points.

Trynity Mendez lost her first match, won the second and lost the third to place fifth in her weight class.

Jason Lewis lost both of his matches and finished in sixth place.

Both Mendez and Carlon plan to continue wrestling in the USA Freestyle program, according to assistant coach Crystal Davis.
