Cheer team holding fun run/walk

The cheerleaders at Wahkiakum High School are planning to give the community a colorful start to summer with the Colorumbia River Run and Summer Kickoff Party.

The run is modeled on several events around the country where walkers and runners in white shirts have different brightly colored glazes tossed on them as they compete in a 5K or 2.5K.

“By the end of the run you’ll look like a splattering of the rainbow,” Kate Brenner, the cheerleading advisor said. “It’s going to be a colorful good time.”

When the run is over the party begins.

There will be lawn games, food and drinks for purchase, a deejay to spin some tunes, and dancing.

The Colorumbia River Run and Summer Kickoff Party is a fundraiser for the cheer team and will take place on the grounds at Wahkiakum High School on Saturday, June 4. The run starts at 3 p.m. and the party starts at 5 p.m.

Participants must register by 5:00 p.m. on May 13. There are four different package options. The Total Package costs $20 ($17 for ASB card holders) and includes white sunglasses, a plain white t-shirt, and admission to the run and the party.

The event is open to all ages.
