Free smoke alarms available
May 5, 2016
The American Red Cross has launched a national campaign to reduce the number of fire deaths and injuries by 25 percent over the next five years.
Fire-related deaths and injuries are highest in homes without smoke alarms. Fire experts agree that people may have as little as two minutes to escape a burning home before it’s too late to get out.
Free smoke alarms are available through the Red Cross. To receive a free smoke alarm, installed by trained Red Cross volunteers, call 503-528-5783, send an email to preparedness@redcross.org or complete an online form at http://www.redcross.org/cascadeshfpc.
