A recount of votes for the Legislative District 19 Position 1 primary election last week confirmed that Teresa Purcell had finished second and will advance to the general election.

In the final vote tally, Purcell led JD Rossetti 6,411 to 6,361. The margin was small enough to trigger a recount, and Purcell gained one vote in the recount.

Republican Jim Walsh came out on top of the race for Position 1 with 28.96 percent of the vote, Democrat Purcell had 24.19 percent, and Rossetti, also a Democrat, had 24.0 percent. Purcell will face Walsh in the general election.
