News from Naselle:

Way to go Comets, and congratulations on a very successful football season. After a tough season they made it to the state quarterfinals, before falling to the top ranked team in the state. You have made your school very proud as well as the whole community.

Sports calendar for the coming week includes: Tuesday, high school girls basketball at Willapa Valley at 5:45 p.m .; Wednesday, middle school girls basketball at Raymond at 5:45 p.m. Go Comets!

Students will be out of school both Thursday and Friday for the Thanksgiving holiday and will return to classes on Monday.

Are you ready for a fun day of local shopping with something for everyone and a delicious lunch as well? Check out the Martha Circle Bazaar at the Naselle Congregational Church located at 14 Parpala Road, on Saturday, December 3 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The luncheon will begin at 11 a.m., and for a suggested donation of $7, you can choose from clam chowder or beef barley soup with dessert and a beverage.

Bazaar items for sale will include wreaths, rugs, kitty toys, jam, baked goods and will also host outside vendors and their unique wares. Sounds like a really fun event. Shop local.

Westend news:

The West End Food Pantry’s “Fill a Feedbag” program to provide for families needing a little extra this holiday season, is in full swing. The Thanksgiving donations have been distributed and will be much appreciated by the recipients. Thank you to all who gave. We aren’t done yet though. You can still pick up a feedbag and fill it for a Christmas donation, which needs to be returned by December 15.

Happy Anniversary to Steve and Audrey Ullakko and Russell and Sirkka Wirkkala. Wishing you many more celebrations together.

Ahh! Thanksgiving. It has always been a very special holiday for our family, but unfortunately this year will be very different without the man who brought our family into being. Death is really hard to accept after so many years together, so many reminders, so many memories, both good and bad, during the holidays. I will be cooking my usual big Thanksgiving meal but without the person who always sat at the head of the table for 50 years, and without most of our children or grandchildren. That said, I am so thankful for the family I will be cooking for as well as some very dear friends who have decided to join us. I wish everyone a very happy day, full of good food, family and friends and peace in your lives. Happy Thanksgiving from my home to yours.
