It’s almost Valentine’s Day, and most of us know what that means--delicious eating at the American Legion Auxiliary, Deep Post #111 Annual Valentine Smorgasbord and silent auction. This year’s event will take place on February 12 in the Naselle High School Commons from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Bring your appetite for the all you can eat salads and main dishes as well as home made pies and cakes. Ticket prices for adults and teens are $12, for pre-teens are $6 and children under six for $2.

Proceeds from this feast will benefit veteran needs, local scholarships and charities.

Westend news:

There will be a Pop UP Farmer’s Market this weekend at the Skamokawa Grange on Saturday from noon to 2 p.m. If you are looking for some delicious home grown organic produce, here’s your chance. Available produce includes potatoes (Yukon gold, purple and reds) all grown naturally with no pesticides, herbicides and with natural fertilizer for $.50 per pound, USDA organic leeks are $1.50 per pound, red cabbage is $1 per pound, red beets are $1 per pound and kale is $1.25 per bunch.

We live in an area where we are so fortunate to be able to purchase good, wholesome food locally and there are many farms to thank for that privilege. Whether they are small family gardens or larger ones, they are working to produce good quality food and they are willing to share it by selling locally. My hat’s off to all of you.

As well as good organic veggies, we are especially lucky to have the Organic Valley Dairy products available through the Burkhalter family farm. I have to say, it’s the only kind of milk I will buy; it’s delicious.

The Rosburg Senior Lunch Bunch meets in the Rosburg Hall every week to enjoy a home cooked lunch that has been prepared and served by Pat Potter and her volunteer crew.

On Thursdays, CAP also sponsors a senior meal, and it is served in the Rosburg Hall as well. Lunch for both venues is served at noon.

Birthday wishes go out to the following celebrants this week: Esther Gregg, Deanna Gjovik, Holly Parrino, Ron Stube, Brittany Legler, Garett Boggs and Hannah Footh. Happy Birthday and a wish for a perfect day.

Happy Anniversary to Craig and Diane Mattson. Here’s to many more celebrations together.
