Lawrence Jaspers

Lawrence Ervin Jaspers, 85, of Lake Oswego, Ore., was born at home on Puget Island July 2, 1931. He was the oldest of three sons of Floyd F. Jaspers and Dorothy Shelton Jaspers.

When he was young his family moved to Portland, Ore., where he attended Beaumont Elementary, Grant High School and the University of Portland.

He served in the coast guard and was honorably discharged in 1953, having visited Guam, Japan and Alaska.

In 1954 he and Marilyn Ayers were married. They became the parents of four daughters.

Larry’s life’s work was 40 years for Norlift of Oregon, a heavy equipment company, where he started in parts, moved to salesman and then service manager. He was an excellent woodworker and enjoyed the Oregon coast, water skiing, walking and photography. He was a much loved and respected man; a friend, husband, father and grandfather; a man of his word.


Larry is survived by his wife, Marilyn; daughters Cathy Trueb, Christi Piche, Cheryl Jaspers and Laurie Crabtree; brother Dean Jaspers of West Linn, Ore.; eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and younger brother Walter D. Jaspers.

Burial took place January 24, 2016 in Portland.
