Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the past two weeks, including:

February 13 — 9:35 a.m. A caller reported that one of the bathrooms at the marina had been vandalized. 4:21 p.m. A caller reported automatic weapon fire on Puget Island. A deputy found several people holding target practice on private property. There were no violations and no automatic weapons were found.

February 14 — 10:35 a.m. An alarm was activated at a Cathlamet home. 11:25 a.m. A Rosburg resident reported that he had been locked out of his home by a roommate. A deputy contacted the landlord, who said that he planned to evict everyone. 12:28 p.m. A Rosedale home had been ransacked and a gun case had been forced open, according to a caller. 2:14 p.m. A welfare check was requested for an Alger Creek resident. 4:33 p.m. A caller reported that a large tree had fallen on a power line near Skamokawa. The PUD said it was a phone line when they were contacted. 8:15 p.m. A power outage was reported at an Elochoman Valley home. The PUD was notified. 9:06 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided an Elochoman Valley resident.

February 15 — 2:03 p.m. A caller reported child abuse at a home in Cathlamet. A representative from Child Protective Services agreed to meet with a deputy and visit the address the following day. 2:05 p.m. A caller reported that a family member was having suicidal thoughts. 2:25 p.m. The Grays River ambulance aided a Deep River resident who had fallen and lost consciousness. 3:13 p.m. A Skamokawa resident reported that there were three individuals firing weapons behind her home. She believed one was a convicted felon. 4:14 p.m. An individual was taken into custody after a vehicle stop in Cathlamet. 4:15 p.m. An alarm was activated at a Skamokawa address. 7:00 p.m. A caller reported that two individuals were struggling to get out of a home that was on fire on Puget Island; the Puget Island Fire Department, District 4 Fire Department, Cathlamet Fire Department, Skamokawa Fire Department, and the Cathlamet ambulance responded. A fire investigator was called. 8:12 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance was asked to aid an inmate at the county jail who had attempted to poison himself. Another crew was called in as the ambulance was currently responding to the fire on Puget Island. 8:51 p.m. An individual was taken into custody in regard to the report of the home that had been ransacked on February 14. 9:06 p.m. The PUD was requested to respond to the house fire on Puget Island. 11:52 p.m. A one vehicle accident was reported on SR 4 near Nassa Point. No injuries were reported, but the District 4 Fire Department and the Cathlamet ambulance responded.

February 16 — 12:19 a.m. A person involved in the accident on SR 4 near Nassa Point reported that he was dizzy and his head hurt. The Cathlamet ambulance responded. 6:44 a.m. A caller reported that cows were loose on Puget Island. The owner was contacted. 8:55 a.m. A Rosburg resident complained that her roommates were trying to break into her room. The caller was told that no crime had been committed and that there was no evidence of a crime. She was told that her story was different from the original call and warned that falsifying a report would land her in jail. She was advised to stay away from her roommates until they moved out. 9:30 a.m. A Cathlamet resident complained that a neighbor’s goats were loose, jumping on vehicles and causing a lot of problems. Dispatch attempted to contact the owners but the phone number had been disconnected. 11:06 a.m. A deputy accompanied a representative from CPS who was visiting a home in Rosedale. 3:45 p.m. A caller reported an employment scam. 5:01 p.m. The Grays River ambulance responded to a Deep River home after a resident fell. 9:29 p.m. An individual was taken into custody after a vehicle stop.

February 17 — 10:40 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Skamokawa resident. 12:12 p.m. A Grays River resident reported that a renter who had been evicted had taken an item that did not belong to him. The renter admitted the mistake and said he would return it the next day. 2:38 p.m. A caller reported a dead dear in the ditch alongside SR 4 in the Elochoman Valley area. 2:57 p.m. One inmate assaulted another at the county jail.

February 18 — 12:02 p.m. A Puget Island resident reported a trespasser. A deputy made contact with the individual who claimed he had used an easement to traverse the property. The deputy planned to follow up. 4:58 p.m. An individual was taken into custody after driving a vehicle into a ditch on SR 4 on the east side of KM. He failed a sobriety test. There was a person in the car, and no injuries reported. 11:41 p.m. A caller reported a domestic disturbance at a home in the Elochoman Valley. The caller complained that a woman who should not be drinking had been drinking and locked herself into a room with a child. Deputies responded; one individual headed to a separate residence.

February 19 — No calls reported.

February 20 — 7:43 a.m. A driver’s license was found at the marina. 12:41 p.m. A caller reported that a gate to a logging road in the Rosburg area had been vandalized. 5:04 p.m. A caller reported a possible drunk driver on SR 4 west of County Line Park. A deputy stopped the vehicle and found no evidence for the claim. 7:22 p.m. The PUD was notified after a caller reported a power line hanging low in the Grays River area.

February 21 — 11:10 a.m. A caller reported a possible brush fire after seeing a thick layer of smoke that smelled like garbage on Beaver Creek. The District 4 Fire Department responded and found nothing. 11:13 a.m. A deputy responded after an alarm was activated at a Rosedale address. He found an unsecured door, which he locked. 2:06 p.m. An individual was taken into custody after a vehicle stop in Cathlamet. 2:10 p.m. A panic alarm was activated at a Cathlamet address. 2:13 p.m. A caller reported that someone had cut the locks on buildings at the fairground in Skamokawa. The caller was checking cameras. 11:02 p.m. A caller reported that a man had followed her back to her apartment in Cathlamet and was trying to gain access.

February 22 — 12:11 a.m. A Puget Island resident requested that a deputy drive by after seeing someone out in a field nearby with a flashlight. He thought it was a neighbor checking livestock, but he wanted to be sure. 7:20 a.m. A caller reported that cows were loose in the Rosburg area. The owner was contacted. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Rosedale resident who was having complications due to diabetes. 9:10 a.m. An individual wanted on a warrant from the Longview Police Department was taken into custody in Skamokawa.

February 23 — 4:15 a.m. An individual was taken into custody after a vehicle stop west of Skamokawa. 5:48 p.m. A caller reported that an individual had made several threatening phone calls to the clinic in Cathlamet. 6:48 p.m. A caller reported seeing flashlights in a vacant home in the Elochoman Valley. 7:25 p.m. A caller reported hearing multiple shots fired on Puget Island.

February 24 — 9:58 a.m. An individual was taken into custody after violating a restraining order. 3:27 p.m. A caller reported that a contractor had acted fraudulently. 6:01 p.m. A caller reported that cows were loose on SR 4 in the Elochoman Valley area.

February 25 — 2:39 a.m. A caller complained about smoke from what she believed might be an illegal burn on Puget Island. The person responsible for the fire called to report that he was putting it out. 8:28 a.m. The Grays River ambulance aided an ailing Grays River resident. 10:26 a.m. A car went into a ditch after the driver tried to navigate an icy corner on East Valley Road. The driver was fine and a tow was called. 2:06 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Rosedale resident who had stopped breathing. 7:30 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Puget Island resident who complained of swelling in one leg.

February 26 — 8:13 a.m. A deputy responded to the report of a one vehicle accident. There were no injuries. 9:35 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided an ailing Cathlamet resident. 12:13 p.m. A deputy responded to an Alger Creek home after one resident called and appeared to need assistance from the mental health department. Both parties in the home refused assistance. 1:52 p.m. An individual was taken into custody after a vehicle stop in the Elochoman Valley. 3:48 p.m. A caller was concerned that some messages that she was receiving on Facebook were a scam, but a deputy investigated and it turned out that a friend just needed a little help. 4:16 p.m. A Rosedale resident reported that someone had vandalized her boat. 6:08 p.m. A caller reported that a door to one of the buildings at the fairgrounds had been left open. 7:40 p.m. Cows were loose on Beaver Creek. Several attempts were made to contact the owner. 11:27 p.m. The Grays River ambulance aided a Grays River resident who had severe swelling in one leg and was having difficulty breathing.
