Pitcher Luke Brown tagged out a runner at home in the Mules first game of the season. The Mules and Pe Ell/Willapa Valley were tied 4-4 when the game was suspended due to rain.

Initially on Tuesday, the Wahkiakum Mules baseball team didn't let a little rain get in the way of a season starting home game against Pe Ell/Willapa Valley.

But rain eventually led to the game being suspended in the top of the fifth inning, with the Titans and Mules tied, 4-4.

Coach Mark Niemeyer calls a timeout to talk to his infield during Tuesday's game against Pe Ell/Willapa Valley.

When the Titans return, the game will begin where it ended. Zach Brown will be on the mound. PWV will have one out, a runner on second, and the hitter will return to the batter's box with the count of 2-2.

The Mules were leading 4-0 at the end of the third inning, but the wet weather may have diminished pitcher Luke Brown's ball control and resulted in a much closer game. The Titans' scored four in the top of the fourth inning when five batters were struck by errant pitches.

Starting pitcher James Anderson struck out seven batters and didn't allow any hits in the first three innings.

On offense, Hank Ferguson was 2-2 at bat with an RBI and Jacob Cavendar was 2-2 with a double and two RBIs.

The game has not been rescheduled at this time. The Mules travel to Morton today (Thursday) to play Morton/White Pass.
