The Skamokawa Grange became a venue for live music on Saturday, an event that members hope to make a regular occurrence at the hall.

Wahkiakum High School students Ayesha Ahmed and Novella Hokkanen opened the show, performing solos. Then Brent Davis of Portland sat down and sang a set of original songs, along with a couple of covers. Kerrie McNally of Skamokawa, accompanied by local musicians Erik Friend on the mandolin and Jeff Blackburn on the drums, sang several numbers from her catalog. Finally, Russell Clementine, an indie rock band made up of three musicians from Portland and two locals, Friend and Blackburn, took the stage.

There will be an open mic at the grange this Friday, April 14, beginning at 7:30 p.m. Admission is $1 or a can of food for a local food bank.
