April 27, 2017



Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the past week, including:

April 17 — 12:58 a.m. An alarm was activated in the Rosedale area. A deputy was able to silence it. 9:20 a.m. Two suspicious men were caught on video trespassing on the porch of a Puget Island home. 10:29 a.m. The Grays River ambulance responded to a call in Deep River for an individual exhibiting signs of hypothermia. 12:35 p.m. An Elochoman Valley resident reported a theft. 8:05 p.m. A caller reported that a juvenile was missing. The youth returned to the home two hours later. 9:26 p.m. A caller reported that a vehicle had been abandoned in an Elochoman Valley ditch. 10:12 p.m. A caller in the Elochoman Valley reported that someone was throwing rocks at her window.

April 18 — 5:21 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Rosedale resident who was having a seizure. 7:25 a.m. A caller was concerned that a horse had gotten stuck in a field west of Skamokawa. 5:00 p.m. A motorist complained about a bicyclist who almost ran into her vehicle on a Cathlamet street. 5:10 p.m. A caller reported that cows were loose in the Skamokawa area.


April 19 — 11:40 a.m. A caller reported a suspicious vehicle at Wages Hole in the Elochoman Valley. A deputy responded and an individual was taken into custody. 1:14 p.m. A caller reported a trespasser on property on Beaver Creek Road. 5:07 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided an ailing woman in Cathlamet. 6:08 p.m. A caller reported suspicious activity in Grays River. 8:06 p.m. The Grays River ambulance aided a Grays River resident with abdominal pain. 11:14 p.m. An alarm was activated at a Rosedale business.


April 20 — 7:25 a.m. A caller reported that he had struck a deer on a Puget Island road. State patrol was asked to dispatch the animal. 10:33 a.m. A caller reported that his child was being bullied and had been bitten at a school in Cathlamet. 4:48 p.m. A caller reported three youths riding skateboards on Cathlamet streets. A deputy talked to them.


April 21 — 12:02 a.m. Deputies and the Cathlamet Fire Department responded to a fire alarm that was activated at a Cathlamet address. It turned out to be a false alarm. 7:36 a.m. The ferry was out of service until 8:08 a.m. 12:27 p.m. A parent expressed concerns after not hearing from children while they were with the other parent. Investigation revealed that the kids were in school, and the caller was advised to speak with his attorney for legal advice on a parenting plan. 3:05 p.m. A caller reported that he would return the next day to pick up his vehicle which had broken down on SR 4 just west of County Line Park. 4:54 p.m. The mental health department asked for assistance while they made contact with an individual in the Rosedale area.

April 22 — 7:03 a.m. An unoccupied boat was seen hung up on a jetty near Little Island. A caller reported that the boat hit the jetty the night before and that everyone had been evacuated. 1:39 p.m. An individual was taken into custody after a vehicle stop in the Elochoman Valley area. 1:55 p.m. A caller reported that a tree was down and blocking one lane of traffic on an Elochoman Valley road. 2:26 p.m. A juvenile reported that she had been kicked out of her Elochoman Valley home. Contact was made with the parent who gave permission for the juvenile to stay at a friend’s home. 9:01 p.m. A fire alarm was activated at a Cathlamet business; the Cathlamet Fire Department responded. It was a false alarm. 9:11 p.m. An alarm was activated at a Rosedale business. 11:56 p.m. Deputies responded to a call about an argument involving a group of inebriated people in the Skamokawa area.

April 23 — 12:26 a.m. An individual staying in a yurt in the Elochoman Slough marina asked for assistance in retrieving his belongings when he was asked to leave. 2:17 a.m. An Alger Creek man and his wife were allegedly assaulted by a neighbor. 3:04 p.m. A caller reported that a motorhome was blocking a lane of traffic in the Grays River area.

April 24 —2:51 a.m. The Grays River ambulance and the Grays River Fire Department responded to a Deep River home when the resident suffered a stroke.
