The Mules traveled to Surfside to play defending state champion Ilwaco and lost a tough match 175-190.

After beating a short handed Ilwaco last week by 14 strokes, the Fishermen had a full squad present Thursday to turn the tables on the Mules.

Freshman Blake Kukula, who placed second as an eighth grader in the 2016 state tournament, shot 39 to claim medalist honors, over Mule freshman Tyler St. Onge, who shot 40.

Bryce Good carded a 48, Elijah Doiron 51, Zach Johnston 51 and Heidi Bruntmeyer shot 65. Making his first appearance for the Mules was eighth grader Logan LaBerge shooting 58. Isaac Moon also participated.

The Mules season record dropped to 9-2-1 but improving from last years score at Surfside of 200 by ten strokes is encouraging. Next match is today (Thursday) at Raymond Golf Course vs the Willapa Harbor schools.
