Georgia (Jo) M. Fluckiger

 


November 17, 1934 - April 25, 2017

Born November 17, 1934 to George and Margaret Hollar at Elochoman Valley, Wahkiakum County, WA. Moved to Cathlamet 1941, then Rosedale 1943 which became her home for years to come. Graduated from Wahkiakum High School Class of 1953. Worked as a telephone switchboard operator and setting type at the newspaper (Eagle) for owner, Bob Nelson. She married Hans A. Fluckiger November 27, 1953. Music was her gift and she loved to share it with others. Piano teacher from 1957 – 1985. Church organist and pianist for 35 years, sang in the choir, local women's barbershop, accompanied soloists, quartets, choir and other vocal groups.

Member Our Saviour's Lutheran Church, taught Sunday school. Loved to help with crafts, lead new songs for the youth.

Unselfish, loved her family, proud of their accomplishments. Enjoyed get togethers with family and friends.


Before she started having health issues she loved to swim in the river off the beach of their home on the Columbia. She welcomed anyone, young and old, to share hosting many of her children's and grandchildren's birthday parties. Had a smile and laugh that made you feel special. She left her family some awesome footsteps to follow. (I Peter 4:10a).

Preceded in death by her parents, George and Margaret Hollar. Survivors are husband Hans, daughter Deborah; son Glenn; three grandchildren, Heather, Jesse and McKensi, two great grandchildren, Kai and Grayson; sisters Willadeen Morris, Portland, and Kay Cochran, Cathlamet.


Memorial service 11 a.m., Saturday, May 13 at Our Saviour's Lutheran. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the youth of O.S. Lutheran.
